 An evening with Thomas Heatherwick

And fundraiser for developing earthquake-proof houses for Lombok

Thomas Heatherwick
I was invited to the Heatherwick studio one afternoon in London and Thomas showed me things that blew my mind. He showed me a process that is so unusual in the architectural world, where creativity reigns rather than practicality and financial ability. I'd always been aware of his work, but I'd never plugged the name into the man, and the man is wonderful. We've been having a WhatsApp conversation ever since and he's a very special person. He's coming to Bali and to bring his magic into the world of bamboo would be a dream of all dreams. He truly is a creative mastermind of great things.
British Designer Thomas Heatherwick will be visiting Bali this October.

Since founding the Heatherwick Studio in 1994, Thomas Heatherwick has garnered international recognition as one of the most influential and innovative designers worldwide.

He will be giving an evening lecture at Bambu Indah with John Hardy on Friday October 12th. The talk will feature Heatherwick's innovative design work.  He will explore his relationship with creativity and how this influences his design process.

The event is also in aid of developing a new sustainable earthquake proof Sasak house project which will be presented during the event. This project is a creative response to aid Lombok's development efforts after the recent earthquake. The event is supported by Bamboo U and IBUKU

Event opens: 4:30pm
Thomas speaks at: 6:00pm
Dinner: 7:00pm

Price of admission: Rp 450,000, includes dinner by the river at Bambu Indah.
