J.A Pramuhendra Solo Exhibition "MONSTER CHAPTER II: MOMENTUM" Opening: FRIDAY , MARCH 22, 2019 Exhibition on March 23 - April 7, 2019 The National Gallery, Jl Medan Merdeka Timur no 14 Jakarta Pusat Solo Exhibition "MONSTER CHAPTER II: MOMENTUM" Pramuhendra" is a manifest of an idea proposal that is divided into two types of tendencies: works with structure of (i) symbolical expressions and (ii) abstraction approach towards the experience of form and space. We do not hastily arrive to the conclusion that Pramuhendra's next works would have a total abstract approach. Pramuhendra's decision to do a sort of intrusion to the model of self-interpretation he grasped until recently is what attracted us the most. Not only does he try to reinterpret the subject matters that have been the anchor of his focus, but also interpret the way he construes an issue. Soul & Charcoal | Jiwa & Bilah Arang Title of "MONSTER CHAPTER II: MOMENTUM" offers a unique journey of appreciation to rediscover the meanings of religious experience that is now often felt ironic. Contemporary art, often demonstrates experience or ironic condition in its practice, and those ironic expressions are generally intended to be part of a strategy of criticism or ridicule. 'MONSTER CHAPTER II: MOMENTUM' has a double meaning: at one side it explains the earnest effort to clarify something that is complex or even absurd, and at the same time affirms that the seemingly ironic condition is actually something non-ironic in its true actuality. At this point, the works of Pramuhendra invite us to [re]enter the area of internalization called faith. |
